Researchers from the Netherlands Cancer Institute have discovered a previously unknown organ in the human body, named the tubarial salivary gland. This new gland, found accidentally during cancer research, is located behind the nose where the nasal cavity meets the throat. It likely plays a role in moistening the upper throat. This discovery adds a fourth major salivary gland to human anatomy, alongside the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. All 100 patients examined had this gland, highlighting its significance in our understanding of human anatomy. Dr. Yvonne Mowery from Duke University expressed astonishment at this 21st-century discovery.
